~ This condo kitchen was cut off from both the view and communication to anyone who was not standing inside the kitchen!
~ Lighting ws erratic and insufficient. Light fixtures were visually uninteresting.
~ Counterspace was inadequate for two avid cooks.
~ Open up the kitchen to the view!!
~ More counter!
~ More storage!
~ Color and whimsy. Capture the spirit of our former home. (Photo to the right.)
|Solutions & Gains
~ Landon proposed opening up the kitchen to the view in two ways:
1) Remove the soffit and wall between it and the dining room.
2) Shift the dining room into the unused floor space between the existing dining room and living room.
~ With the dining room floor space now available, the kitchen could rotate 90-degrees and gain an island.
~ To create additional counterspace, counters are both longer and deeper (30"-deep).
Counters: Orbital-finished stainless steel with integrated sink desigend by Landon; "Verde Fun" by Silestone on the island; bamboo
Cabinets: Aristocratic Cabinets, Chehalis, WA; Arpa "Greige" with pixelated pattern+ Wilsonart "Bottle Glass" with glossy finish +
Formica "Lime" with microdot finish + Laminart "Roman Gold" + Arpa "Blue" with waves finish.
Lighting: Tech Lighting + lamps from the owner's collection
